It's funny that you and your lot question the reading comprehension of those who take issue with Remender's work when you guys only talk about the very small percentage who erroneously labeled the scene as statutory rape. Do you suffer from the same reading comprehension problems of which you accuse readers, or are you just cherry-picking so you can tell people that it's all unfounded? Given some of the responses your creators have had to people offering to explain, I'm thinking it's the latter.

If you want to talk about the very relevant issues that you’re referring to, I would humbly submit that shouting about them from the center of an angry ill-informed mob isn’t the smartest way of going about it. Sure, there are legitimate points to be made, but when you’re standing shoulder to shoulder with the ignorant, the misguided and the deliberately deceptive, you’re going to be lumped in with them.
This tone argument bullshit.
You think so?
I sometimes get smart with my responses, but I try to come at people in a cool and collected manner. I will even wait until my heated emotions have subsided before continuing.
A lot of voices I am seeing here are full of bile. Just piss and vinegar, with arguments made in a manner not befitting a discussion of ideas.
You also have people like Gloria Miller who are not even trying to have rational conversation, and act like the victim when her false claims of statutory rape are not taken seriously, and she is called out for trying to impugn Remender over it. There is a serious conversation to be had on some of the details, but that is not one of them.
Either way, I wouldn’t feel a need to engage with a group of people that chose to behave that way. There is absolutely no reason to believe a productive conversation can be had in such an environment.
I completely agree. But the worst thing? While there are many valid criticisms to be made about Remender’s work, the angry mob aiming at the wrong points is doing much more harm to any real issues that might change things, and trivializing serious subjects when they fail to identify whether or not they’re seeing it in their fiction.
